Breckenridge Lodging Options - "The Neighborhoods of Breckenridge"

Posted on May 3, 2010 by Mark Gossman - Comments

We continue our look at Breckenridge lodging options by further exploring some of the neighborhoods in Breckenridge that you may consider when planning your vacation this summer or next ski season.  This next neighborhood, Shock Hill, is definitely one of the more distinctive neighborhoods when it comes to high quality vacation homes in Breckenridge.  Lodging in this neighborhood ranges from the well-appointed 4 bedroom duplex, that is a short walk to the gondola station to the multimillion dollar mega luxury homes that are nestled into the landscape just north of the gondola line.

As guests enter Shock Hill, the impressive bridge constructed of stone, metal and timber makes it obvious that Shock Hill is one of Breckenridge’s most prestigious developments. It is located off of Ski Hill Road, at Breckenridge Ski Area’s gondola midway station. The luxury enclave offers some of the area’s best ski-in, ski-out locations. It is perched atop a high ridgeline, offering unobstructed views of Cucumber Gulch’s pristine, protected wildlife habitat. In addition to easy gondola access, a Nordic ski trail passes through Shock Hill, for easy cross-country ski trail use.

The BreckConnect gondola, which takes guests to a land of adventure on Breckenridge Ski Area’s Peak 8, is only a few steps from the homes on Shock Hill. From the base of Peak 8, skiers and riders can hop on chairlifts taking them to intermediate groomed runs and catwalks that lead to more advanced terrain, including steeps and open bowls.

Downtown Breckenridge is a short gondola ride in the opposite direction, so there’s no need to get in a car and drive to town for dinner, shopping and exploration of the bars of Breckenridge, which each have their own characteristic charm.  And this summer season the gondola will be running June – September, which is the first season the resort has decided to operate during the summer months.

If this sounds like a neighborhood you may be interested in, please give me a call for a recommendation, you’ll find Shock Hill a convenient location with a nice selection of luxury properties available at reasonable prices.
